ANDY WARHOL

‘While Warhol is best known for his multiple-image silkscreens of consumer goods and celebrities, he also approached subjects ranging from still-life, the Renaissance, politics and the natural world. Warhol's influence on the course of post-war twentieth-century art history has been immense, and he continues to dominate the contemporary art market into the twenty-first century.

“Curiosity is Gluttony. To See is to Devour.”

Victor Hugo

‘Warhol’s work becomes eternal and iconic in equal measure … He thus becomes the central figure to the massive art market that has grown up around it, locking himself in as the single most important artist in the canon of contemporary art.’

ERIC SHINER, FORMER DIRECTOR OF THE ANDY WARHOL MUSEUM, PITTSBURGH

‘Instinctively an astounding colourist ...Warhol achieved in his art a signature style like no other; when meditating upon a work of his art, it is impossible not to recall the appearance and presence of the artist himself.’

NORMAN ROSENTHAL, CURATOR & ART HISTORIAN

Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.

"Journey Through Time: Storran Gallery's Rich History, A Tapestry of Avant-Garde Excellence."

The Storran Gallery an epitome of avant-garde expression, first graced the illustrious London art scene in the bustling 1930s. Founded by the dynamic trio of the distinguished art critic Eardley Knollys, the visionary Ala Story, and the talented artist Frank Coombs, the gallery swiftly became synonymous with cutting-edge creativity and intellectual discourse.

Nestled in the heart of sophistication at 106 Brompton Road, London SW3, the gallery, strategically positioned opposite Harrods, was an immediate sensation. It served as a vibrant hub where the avant-garde spirit thrived, attracting patrons and enthusiasts alike. In the cultural fervor of the 1930s, the Storran Gallery provided a stage for artists pushing the boundaries of conventional art.

As the gallery's reputation flourished, the founders recognized the need for a more expansive space to accommodate the burgeoning wave of avant-garde expressions. In 1937, the Storran Gallery embraced change and moved to Fitzroy Street, expanding its physical footprint and heightening its cultural impact.

Under the visionary leadership of Eardley Knollys, whose friendship with Picasso brought an international flair to the gallery, the Storran Gallery became a melting pot of artistic ideologies. Ala Story's visionary curation and Frank Coombs' artistic prowess further solidified the gallery's reputation as a trendsetter in the art world.

During the late 1930s, the Storran Gallery showcased a mesmerizing array of artworks, featuring pieces by renowned artists such as Picasso, Modigliani, Dufy, Anthony Devas, Claude Rogers, Victor Pasmore, Rupert Shephard, Graham Bell, Clare Crossley, William Coldstream, Ivon Hitchens, Jean Varda, Derek Sayer, Lynton Lamb, Joan Souter-Robinson, Ivy Langton, and Derek Latymer-Sayer. Many of these artists were esteemed members of the Euston Road School, a testament to the gallery's commitment to fostering the spirit of artistic collaboration and innovation.

Fast forward to the present day, the Storran Gallery is once again poised for a new chapter in its storied history with the appointment of its visionary director, Jordan Golden. A dynamic force in the art world, Golden brings fresh perspectives and a keen eye for innovation to the gallery.

In his role, Jordan Golden will spearhead the Storran Gallery's global engagement, working intimately with private clients and institutions worldwide. His expertise will guide the gallery in acquiring and dealing in exquisite works by masterful artists such as Monet, Degas, and Renoir, elevating the gallery's profile to an international stage. This strategic approach ensures that the Storran Gallery remains a cultural landmark while becoming a premier destination for art connoisseurs worldwide, bridging the rich history of avant-garde art with the ever-changing landscape of contemporary expression. The Storran Gallery, with Jordan Golden at the helm, stands ready to captivate a new generation of art enthusiasts, promising a seamless blend of tradition, cutting-edge creativity, and global allure.
